You asked how to do the star things. Well they should be on your keyboard. On the top of your keyboard the number 8 has it. If you push shift 8 you will get it but another easier way is on the side of your keyboard where the other numbers are at the top of those numbers there is a * and you dont have to push shift on that one. That is how you do that.
